Thanks a lot for this news, its nice getting to know what is happening over there in the Ghana oil sector and the newest development. my question now is how possible is it for one to get a job after acquiring a certificate on foundational oil & gas drilling and HSE.

The EPA is not equipped to deal with HSE issues related to oil and gas.The EIA is very general is not related to any specific installation.Each installation needs to be assessed.For eg. all rig owners and operators need to prepare emergency oil pollution plans and safety cases in the UK before they enter their waters.In the western world the EPA is never responsible for HSE in oil and gas and the EPA in Ghana has not got the expertise in this area contrary to what they say.The EPA IS NOT THE REGULATOR.The Petroleum Commission was set up to regulate the O & G industry however they are yet to get off the ground.So as at now there are no regulations,no inspections,nothing .The PC don’t have a website and there is no way to contact them.I don’t think they even have an office yet.Govt needs to make it a priority and the emphasis should be to minimize risks.
